Using a curriculum tailored to refugee youth and young adults, the MAC Program, through mentorship, provides activities to connect refugee youth and young adults to the world of work.

You've always wondered whether you would make a good teacher. You're dedicated, caring, resilient, and committed to lifelong learning. Working with adolescents intrigues you. You are concerned about the compelling realities facing students in today's challenging school environments and wonder how you might be part of the solution. The University of Michigan-Flint's Master of Arts with Secondary Certification (MAC) program wants you. This program is for aspiring teachers who have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and are interested in earning a master's degree with teacher certification.

The MAC program focuses on experience-based learning intended to explicitly link theory with practice through immersion in the challenging middle and high school setting. You'll begin the program by working alongside experienced teachers, while gradually increasing your opportunity and responsibility for teaching in these classrooms. As a result, you'll be well prepared to teach and help students achieve academic excellence, despite challenges they may face.

The program is taught on-site at middle and high schools in Detroit, Flint, Alaska, and other challenging school environments where you'll work closely with expert university and school faculty who facilitate and support your growing expertise in teaching. The field-based setting is invaluable in building a sense of community with your instructors, cohort peers, coaching teachers, and students. Our faculty experts are committed to your success, making themselves available to you outside the normal class schedule with flexible office hours and online access.

The program's robust emphasis on field experience is coupled with seminars offered in a mixed-mode format (both online and face-to-face). Field experiences of 10-12 hours per week are arranged by you and your coaching teacher. With a requirement of 45 credits, the traditional full-time MAC program is completed in less than two years, with an option to earn your teaching certificate in one year.

You'll complete the MAC program with a small cohort of fellow educators who share your passion for making a difference through education. This cohort structure enables you to develop a strong support network for personal and professional development. Coursework emphasizes team-based project work that allows for networking while improving collaborative and communication skills.

Upon successful completion of the program degree requirements, the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or similar test of basic skills, and the Michigan Test for Teacher's Certification (MTTC) examination in a secondary education content area, the candidate will be eligible for a Michigan Interim Teaching License. The Secondary MAC will permit candidates who have a minimum 3.0 GPA, pass the SAT, and MTTC content area exam(s) and successfully complete the first year of the program to be eligible for a Michigan Interim teaching certificate.

• Minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (Undergraduate grade point averages below a 3.0 may be considered for probationary admission).

How to get updates for macOS Mojave or later

If you've upgraded to macOS Mojave or later, follow these steps to keep it up to date:

1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu , then click Software Update to check for updates.
   
2. If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them. Or click 'More info' to see details about each update and select specific updates to install.
   
3. When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are also up to date. That includes Safari, iTunes, Books, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos, and FaceTime.

To find updates for iMovie, Garageband, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and other apps that were downloaded separately from the App Store, open the App Store on your Mac, then click the Updates tab.

To automatically install macOS updates in the future, including apps that were downloaded separately from the App Store, select 'Automatically keep my Mac up to date.' Your Mac will notify you when updates require it to restart, so you can always choose to install those later.

How to get updates for earlier macOS versions

If you're using an earlier macOS, such as macOS High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, or earlier,* follow these steps to keep it up to date:

1. Open the App Store app on your Mac.
2. Click Updates in the App Store toolbar.
3. Use the Update buttons to download and install any updates listed.
4. When the App Store shows no more updates, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are up to date. That includes Safari, iTunes, iBooks, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos, and FaceTime. Later versions may be available by upgrading your macOS.
